- We can run our java program on a wide variety of computers using a range of OS.This is because our java program does not executed directly on our computer,it run on a standard hypothetical computer called Java Virtual Machine (JVM) which is implemented inside a computer by a program(Java Interpreter).
- The java program,we write, is converted by java compiler to a binary file consisting of byte code which are binary instruction for java interpreter.
- The java interpreter inspects the byte code, check it out to insure that it is safe to execute and then it execute the action specified within the JVM.
- The java interpreter can run standalone or it can be part of a web browser. In web it can be called automatically to run applets(web pages).
